News item 28 - Our Glazing Options Guide

Glazing for roofs

Here is a a guide  to some roof glazing options  that are popular and in common use today ofr roof glazing.

Planitherm Softcoat Low E Specially manufactured by Saint-Gobain Glass for the UK market, PLANITHERM products are specifically designed to keep interiors more comfortable in the winter months and improve your home's energy efficiency.

PLANITHERM is Europe's best selling range of high performance low-emissivity glass (low-E glass). The glass utilises the very latest advancements in thermally insulating glass coating technology.

PLANITHERM maximises the amount of natural light into the home, without the haze or tint effects associated with some older double glazed windows

Ambience Aqua Green Tint

Ambi–Aqua is a superior glass roof product in the Ambience range equivalent to Celsius except with Activ coat instead of easy clean technology with exceptional heat reflection capabilities. This high performance glass reflects 78% of the sun’s heat, reducing the internal temperature of a conservatory, particularly with a south facing aspect, by up to 9°C during the hottest summer months.

Ambi-Aqua also provides greater glare reduction, thanks to its visually stunning aqua tint. Insulation levels of 1.0 u can be achieved with low E and argon options.

Planibel A Low E

Planibel A is an improved version of Planibel G fasT (Planibel Low-E)!   Planibel A was initially launched in the UK market by AGC as it was specifically developed to comply with the higher ratings in the Window Energy Rating system (WER)*!   WER = A-G rating scale similar to those used for appliances which helps consumers to: •  Assess the total energy performance of domestic windows (‘A’ rating being the most efficient). Insulation levels of up to 1.4u can be achieved combined with argon

Pilkington K Low E

Pilkington K Glass™ is the UK’s leading thermal glass brand. Established for over 21 years and easily stocked, processed and installed, it has become the trusted solution for meeting energy-efficient Building Regulations. Pilkington K Glass™ forms the inner pane of an energy-efficient IGU, such as Pilkington energiKare™. The coating reflects heat back into the room whilst also letting in free heat from the sun, known as passive solar gain. Insulation levels of up to 1.5u can be achieved combined with argon

Pilkington Activ Blue

Pilkington Activ™ Self-cleaning Glass uses the forces of nature to maintain a cleaner and clearer appearance. In a dual-action process organic dirt is broken down by daylight and is then washed away by rain, thus making it environmentally friendly and very easy to maintain Pilkington Activ™ not only brings you fantastic low maintenance glass cleaning but also allows you to combine it with various products for the ultimate in glass solutions. In hot climates, solar control glass such as Activ Blue can be used to minimise solar heat gain and help control glare. Insulation levels of up to 1.0 u can be achieved combined with argon

Pilkington Activ Clear

Pilkington Activ™ Neutral is the attractive neutral coloured glass that combines dual action, self-cleaning properties with solar control performance for a cooler internal environment. Specially designed for conservatories and large glazed areas, Pilkington Activ™ Neutral is a revolutionary new glass that is perfect for use in both the roof and verticals. It uses daylight and rainwater to breakdown and wash away organic dirt from exterior surfaces, making it ideal for hard to clean areas and giving you a year round clearer view of your garden when used in conservatory verticals. Its unique solar control coating also helps keep internal temperatures cool whilst still maintaining excellent, neutral light transmittance Insulation levels of up to 1.0 u can be achieved combined with argon

Celsius 1

Celsius's Impressive technological features combined with a subtle blue or bronze tint in the glass helps ensure that unwanted glare is kept to a minimum allowing for all year round enjoyment of the conservatory. Other Celsius glass features mean heat from inside the home is reflected back into the property, whilst excessive solar heat is deflected away. Celsius glass is one of the few glazings on the market to offer this unique combination of heat reflection and thermal insulation. Insulation levels of 1.0 u are achieved combined with argon

Celsius Elite

Celsius Elites Impressive technological features combined with a subtle blue or bronze tint in the glass helps ensure that unwanted glare is kept to a minimum allowing for all year round enjoyment of the conservatory. Celsius Elite takes Celsius to new heights, offering the highest heat reflection, thermal insulation and UV protection for your conservatory roof in the Celsius range. Insulation levels of 0.9 u are achieved combined with argon

Celsius Clear

Celsius Clear, is a lightly tinted thermal performance glass designed specifically for use in glazing panels, but is good choice for roofs where there is little direct sunlight. Like mainstream Celsius 1 Blue , Celsius Clear benefits from a special micro-coating, offering the temperature control and thermal efficiency benefits of advanced glass technology. Insulation levels of 1.0 u are achieved combined with argon Argon A more practical alternative to air is to replace the space in double glazed units with a heavy gas that is more viscous than oxygen and nitrogen. Higher viscosity reduces convective heat transfer (argon has a thermal conductivity of 67% that of air). Glazing for side windows & doors

Triple glazing

Modern windows are now capable of being constructed using three panes of glass, hence the name triple glazing. Our Veka Triple glazed windows are even more energy-efficient than modern double glazing. The thermal insulation benefit is clearly visible through the additional pane of glass and gas filled cavity.
